Subject: Fill me in on the last couple episodes? please? From: jespah@milton.u.washington.edu (Kathleen Hunt) Date: 1991-09-21, 22:01 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks Hi all! I have a request. But first, a long-winded intro: Last year at this time I was the TP buff to end all TP buffs, and had practically memorized the first season and written myself a 15-page cribsheet of clues and miscellaneous hoo-ha to remember for the start of the second season. I happened to move to Seattle, hooked up to the net, discovered this newsgroup and was in HEAVEN. Hey, I was even LIVING right near the "real TP"! A good chunk of my first year in grad school was spent over-analyzing TP. Boy, it was fun. [I feel so nostalgic now, recalling those days of happy obsession...gee, I'm practically getting teary-eyed about it...:-/ ] But then TP started to go downhill...even I had to admit it...I stopped compiling my quote list...stopped memorizing clues...and then I was shipped off to Alaska for a couple months to study tundra birds. By the time I got back I'd missed the last weekly episode as well as the two-hour conclusion, and my friend Katie who often tapes TP was in Prudhoe Bay studying sandpipers and obviously had not taped it from there! (*real* *bad* TV reception. Plus, no VCR.) And also, well, I had psychologically abandoned TP, having gotten a life temporarily :-). I also thought the movie wasn't going to happen; I somehow heard a report that McLachlan said he didn't want to play Cooper? (Did I imagine this?) Well, a few weeks ago I happened to hear a news report that a chemical spill by the Snoqualmie River wasn't going to be cleaned up for a few days due to the TP movie's filming schedule. My first thought, good little conservation biologist that I am (:-/), was not "My god, they're delaying cleanup of a CHEMICAL SPILL just for a MOVIE??" but instead was "The TP movie *IS* being filmed! Yaay!" And THEN, Katie informed me that her mother had dutifully taped the two-hour conclusion while Katie was up at Prudhoe Bay. Aren't moms great? ...I watched it last night. Zap! What a thrill to see the red-curtain room again and to just *roll* in it for ages and ages with all sorts of backward talk and Lodge gobblydegook and BOB scenes. I just *live* for red-curtain scenes and cryptic clues. Finally I get to the point... I definitely missed a couple episodes. The last one I remember is the one where they discovered the cave and saw the map. But I don't remember that one very clearly. And there was definitely at least one after that that I *never* saw. So, my questions are: 1) WHAT HAPPENED between when they saw the map, and the two-hour conclusion? 2) Anyone have any tapes of those last couple episodes that they'd like to lend me? Please? If you can make copies, I can pay shipping & tape cost & even a little fee, or, if you just want to lend I *promise* to give them back. I am *super reliable*. 3) What is the deal with the movie? What is it about? What the hell is going on? What did I hear or imagine about McLachlan? Am I spelling his name wrong? 4) I had a dream that I went to the Snoqualmie/North Bend area on innocuous, non-TP business, and accidentally met some of the film crew, had a lovely chat and managed to convey to them just how much *fun* it was to be a TP buff last year. Curiously, none of the cast or big names appeared in my dream -- just anonymous TP crew. I also dreamed that Katie (my TP-buff friend) and I were tracking radio-collared marbled murrelet fledglings from their nests near Snoqualmie all the way to Puget Sound, racing underneath them in a truck as they flew way overhead. (Marbled murrelets are open-ocean birds that breed in old-growth forest, and are getting as politically hot as the spotted owl.) Does this mean anything? :-) Thank god I still have the Jan. 26th episode on tape. If I hadn't seen that, I'd *really* have been confused. :-) Kathleen -- Kathleen Hunt / U.W.
