While visiting the area, I talked to the owner of the Mar-T who said
that Silva was added as Bob some time after the pilot.  She said
they filmed the pilot about a year before it appeared on ABC,
and seemed to imply that it wasn't until the series that Silva
doubled as Bob (he's a tech of some sort for the show.)  I had
heard something like that before, but wasn't sure if Bob appeared
in the pilot.  Did he?  I don't think so (at least the American
ABC version.)
