Subject: "Fire Walk With Me" Visit (Part 1-long) From: rhaller@phloem.uoregon.edu (Rich Haller) Date: 1991-10-12, 11:57 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks My daughter started grad school at UW this fall. We are both monster TP fans so when I heard that shooting on the prequel was going to start in Snoqualmie/North Bend in early September, I decided I would drive up with her to her apartment in Tacoma and we would make a pilgrimage and hopefully see some shooting. We drove up to Tacoma on Sunday and decided to go over to Snoqualmie/North Bend on Monday. If it turned out to be their day off, that gave us at least two more days to score before I had to go back. We pulled into North Bend about 10 am on the 16th and parked near the Mar-T. It was sunny and hot, so the "Save the Pine Weasel" t-shirt I was wearing was just the thing for the weather. No obvious signs of activity, though a lampost on the corner under the famous stop light had been knocked over or cut down to look as if it had been knocked over and there was indeed stuff in the corner building that looked like it might be movie related as someone had reported earlier. We peered in the Mar-T and then walked up and down the main drag, looking for the Alpine Blossom Gift Shop where I hoped to get a map and some souvenirs. We finally gave up and got back in the car and headed out of town for the sites that I already knew about (I made a trip by myself in May). We didn't go more than a block before I spotted the gift shop on the street that is right angles to the main drag and we stopped. That was our first, but not last, piece of luck. Picked up a map and some souvenirs and headed off to visit the old sites. Found nothing at the falls, the bridge, 'TP Sherriff's Office', Roadhouse, et cetera. Stopped for lunch in Snoqualmie and picked up a realtor map of the area and looked up trailer parks in the phone book since I had read here that they had shot stuff in one previously. Three were listed. Found two of them, but no action. The third was difficult to find. We almost gave up and started back for Tacoma when we stumbled on it. Then we got REALLY lucky. They weren't filming there, (and it turned they hadn't filmed at it or the other two we checked earlier). However, we overshot the trailer park and as we slowed to turn around I spotted a bunch of trucks parked in a vacant lot. Just beyond them was a really funky motel. We stopped, got out and sure enough, there they were, filming at the motel. (to be continued)
