Subject: Why the GIFs didn't work

After going back and carefully examining my transactions,
I discovered that you must enter "type binary" (that is,
you must spell it out completely). Problem solved. That's
what I get from FTPing from these easy-going IBM sites
("type b? sure, that means binary...")

Thanks to all who very nicely asked me "Are you *sure*
you used binary mode?"
