Subject: Re: Help with THOSE GIF files (please) From: ep1d+@andrew.cmu.edu (Eric Thomas Pronko) Date: 1991-10-31, 19:42 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks Here at CMU there is a simple way to get those images to appear on the screen. You must first put all the parts together, but you need to have all the headers removed. This means all those things that say "cut here," if it has those (I can't remember). You save the entire file without the headers. You then type the command "cat [filename]|uudecode." Actually I can't tell if that's right, because on the dinosaur I'm typing this on that | character looks like a segmented vertical bar. Anyway it should be a solid vertical bar. Once you've done that, a new file will appear. This new file is whatever it says at the top of the gif after begin 664, such as "twin-peaks_arrest.gif." The final step is using a viewing program (here, it's called xview) to see the image. I hope that helps. Eric
