Subject: The Flash zapped into Coop (2001)

Hi!

Before the Giant leaves Cooper in 2001 he tells him that he forgot something.
Then he zaps some sort of flash or ball-lightning into Cooper. Was that the
ring he took away from him earlier? I may be wrong, but I thought the ring
was returned to Coop when he remembered his dream (the gathering in the
Roadhouse).

Besides, why does the Giant take the ring anyway? Is it only to convince Coop
that he isn't suffering from a mere delusion by giving some physical evidence of
his visit? Or does the ring have some other significance?
