With Lynch, their attack appeared a bit after Twin Peaks, when he was making various magazine covers and the like. That's probably one reason for the bad reviews. Another may be that none of them even watched the show before, so there's no real way they can or should expect themselves to totally follow the film, but unfortunately they don't realize that fact. Anyways, as a friend of mine says, "a film critic is nothing more than a glorified movie-goer."
