In fact, in the shooting script she specifically asks Leland to kill her so it won't happen. Also, in his deathbed speech, Leland claims L was too strong for them. I think the disappearance of the angel is a symbol of her dispair and maybe a warning to repent and ask for help before it is too late, but not that the angel has actually abandoned her. Note however, that Ronette's angel only appears when she repents and starts praying. You have to ask for help. Laura didn't, probably because she was so far gone, it never occured to her. Now, why does the angel appear in the waiting room? I think it is because of Coop. Coop is the Christ figure that decends into the underworld in order that others might be saved. I believe this is actually part of one of the creeds 'who decended into hell' etc. In going after Annie he is more like Orpheus, but he is also Christ like. > > I remember an angel helping someone in FWWM also.
