Or LELAND when he was young... the spirit of "childhood innocence", which
(as those of us who really remember our childhood know) is a romantic lie --
hence the Pinocchio-nosed mask.  Children often know a lot more than they
let on, and Pierre DEFINITELY knows a lot of the darker things...
