Kind of a neat theory, Susan, but besides other suggestions there might
have been, I think the final episode or two make it pretty clear who
killed Caroline.  WE says something like, "I haven't had this much fun
since I severed Caroline's aorta."  And Caroline, in the waiting room
(though she looks like Annie at the time, I think), says something
like, "I saw the face of the man who killed me.  It was my husband."
So lovable ol' WE did that particular deed.
