Their epic hero, Gesar of Ling, is commonly believed to be *sleeping* until his people have great need of him again, at which time he will arise and lead a great army that will defeat the world-wide enemy, just like King Arthur of Great Britian. As I noted in a previous post, I see an Arthurian motif in the fact that both Teresa Banks and Laura Palmer were floated down the river. This relates to Elaine the Lily Maid, who was hopelessly in love with Launcelot (hope I'm correct there), and killed herself because he only had eyes for Queen Guinevere. In TP and FWWM, both victems were killed on land, presumably far from a river (wooded upland), so had to be wrapped in plastic, transported however far it was, and then set afloat on the river -- great shot of Teresa floating down the Wind River in FWWM -- so the action obviously did not follow logically, but had to be included because of its symbolism or mythic motif value. Make sense? Question about David Lynch -- does anybody know his birth data? He most generously gave us birth dates for the main characters in TP, but I would love to see his own chart. Lou
