if Twin Peaks has been released on VHS.

I am especially interested in finding out list prices, packaging,
how many episodes per tape, etc.

Thanks !

Tomorrow on HARD COPY... johnatwe@midiline.la.ca.us (John atwell) 1992-03-11 21:03
Did anyone see the teaser last night (Wed. March 11) on Hard Copy. Well
if you didn't, I reproduce it here for your enjoyment.

             MURDER in "TWIN PEAKS"

It started with a murder in a mountain camp, but the mystery has suddenly
and dramatically deepened.

[teaser clip starts]

"Jim Hood [clip from video] lost his wife [stock closeup of a gun
firing] to a mystery man's bullet [photo of wife]. She was found shot to
death in their camp [shot of 'Camp Nelson lodge'] in a peaceful mountain
town. The prime suspect in the case, one of Jim Hood's hired hands [TV
news clip of man in handcuffs arriving at police station], was acquitted
a year ago. Now he's been shot dead, too, [back to clip of Jim Hood],
and police say Jim pulled the trigger. Was it murder or self defense? A
sensational new plot twist in The Real Twin Peaks Murder, next week
on...Hard Copy!"

[graphic saying "TWIN PEAKS MURDER" on a wooden sign which is supposed to
be similar to the sign in the series' opening shot, but doesn't really
make it. Also some background music which probably sounded "Peakish" to
their sound editor, but no way. Two animated shots ring out and blow two
holes in the animated sign].

Ugh! This story is supposed to appear on Hard Copy tomorrow (Thursday,
March 12). Be sure to miss it.

One thing it MAY do is keep Twin Peaks in the mind of the general
populace, this making TPFWWM a bigger hit. This assumes that people who
watch Hard Copy may have an interest in TP. I certainly do not watch
Hard Copy...I just passed it on the way to Star Trek Next Generation, which wh
was pre-empted due to a local basketball game.

(Hard Copy is one of those syndicated TV tabloid show that seem to be
saturating the airwaves here in the U.S.)

Interesting how Twin Peaks seems to have become a part of our culture,
even though it has been off the air for quite a while now.

Sheryl Lee on 90210 UN037455@WVNVAXA.WVNET.EDU 1992-03-12 18:37
I had forgotten that someone posted that Sheryl Lee would be on Beverly Hills
90210 this week. Just now, my roommate was watching the show and I noticed
Lee, playing the part of an "older woman" that one of the guys was attracted
to. I was watching intently, when she began talking about herbal wraps.
Quote: "You get wrapped in plastic!" I almost fell out of my chair!
It was great.

Regarding the message I just posted about Sheryl Lee's "Wrapped in plastic"
line on 90210, it looks like they didn't just stop with one Twin Peaks
reference. After explaining the process of an herbal wrap, the Sheryl Lee
character then proceded to take one of the guys back to her room. Her room
had red drapes. Then, out of nowhere, Sheryl Lee presented the guy with...
you'd never guess... a Tibetan Book of the Dead!

Not quite right.

The Audrey FTP machine was at the South Australia Insitiute of
Technologu (SAIT), which has now become/or was incorporated into the
University of South Australia (UNISA). Thus the internet NAME address is
different.

It is audrey.levels.unisa.edu.au

The number is the same however: 130.220.16.88

Your FTP server may not have the new name through yet, this
sort of thing takes ages as it is a low priority thing, Computer
Centre mentality etc ......

The hose appears to Sarah *before* Maddy's murder.

I *was* interested by her use of the word "galloping".

You can get it from Twin Peaks Press. I don't have the phone number

...For those who saw the sneak in England, could anybody say if the movie
is shot in widescreen CinemaScope style, as is Lynch's wont, or if it is
regular 35mm, to fit onto a television screen better?

At CalArts, we had the opportunity in my film editing class to edit the
raw footage from the last episode of the first season. It was pretty fun.
Also interesting to see that many of the scenes that they shot were a LOT
longer than the scenes they eventually used. I also got a copy of the
Mark Frost script for that episode. If anybody is interested in a copy,
let me know. It's really not too exciting... But makes for a nifty
souvenir.

I found out some interesting trivia on the REAL Harry S Truman (the
President)... Apparently, his middle name was actually "S"! Bizarre!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the horse appeared BEFORE Maddy
was killed by Leyland/Bob. A symbol of impending death.

I guarantee that this offer is entirely false and I would never do

that would want a copy (of course who would want one since this is

White/Black Lodge/Waiting Room --new(?) theory shallenb@spot.Colorado.EDU (Nualle") 1992-03-16 17:22
My theory is that Cooper wasn't long in either the White or the Black Lodges.
--He spent his time in the waiting room... And that's why he had such a hard
time finding WE and Annie... they went straight to the Black Lodge.

  Why, you ask?

Windom's way into the Black Lodge was Annie, who was experiencing fear.
Her love for Cooper wasn't taken into account because she wasn't relating
what was happenning to her to Cooper.

Coop, otoh, was experiencing both his love for Annie _and_ fear for her.
Thus he went into the waiting room until WE found him there. When Coop made
the choice that he would give up his soul for Annie, he moved into the
White Lodge and his doppelganger appeared from the Black Lodge.

Needless to say, Coop faced his shadow self with imperfect courage. I think
it's pretty evident that he's the next generation's Windom. We'll just have
to wait 25 years to see if he does any better with his situation than Windom
did.

I'm damned sure there are lots of people eagerly waiting for it, too!

We've been talking back and forth about this for a while. My pet
theory is pretty close to yours. Earle was admitted to the Black
with his "gift" of fear. Coop, with his oil, was admitted ^only^
to the waiting room, which occupies the space between the Black
     and White Lodges.

Hawk said if you enter the Black Lodge (presumably the white as
well) and face it with "imperfect courage" your soul will be
utterly annhilated. Coop offered his soul to Earle in exchange
for Annie's life, thus showing "perfect courage" (maybe), and
therefore BOB was able only to take his soul hostage and replace
     it with the Doppleganger.

     Anyhow, that's my theory.

leland had a large role in tonights Star Trek the next generation where the
crew accidentily comes into contact with a pre-industrial society and piccard becomes mistaken for GOD.

Leland is the crazed one who refuses to release his belief that Piccard is BOB... i mean GOD. Go figure, i guess in the hollywood business once a crazed man always a crazed man.

The people he was one of were called the Mintokians.

Ideas for TP-inspired radio show? derrigfj@craft.camp.clarkson.edu (Frank J. Derrigo) 1992-03-17 18:31
I'm a DJ at a college radio station and am thinking about
putting together a Twin Peaks-inspired radio show. Aside
from the obvious soundtrack stuff, I'd like to include both
songs that may have been referred to in the show (e.g. "Whole
Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Wonderful World") and songs that
just have a certain Twin Peak-ness about them.

Just some of the songs I've come up with:

Miles Davis "Venus de Milo"
Van Morrison "Dweller on the Threashold"
Joni Mitchell "Passion Play"
Curve "Doppleganger"
The Shadows "FBI"
Red Nichols "I'll See You in My Dreams"

I'd greatly appreciate any other suggestions. If you could,
please include title, artist, and connection (unless blatantly
obvious) with Twin Peaks. Episode number would be great!
Not limited to any particular musical style. For example,
what Mendolesshen (sp?) song was Gersten Hayward playing in
#2001?

Thank you in advance! Feel free to post responses in the net
or e-mail me at 'derrigfj@logic.camp.clarkson.edu'.

How about the KLF? I mean their White room/Black room/Trancentral stuff
comes pretty close to the White Lodge/Black Lodge/Waiting Room scheme.
Is this a coincidence or are KLF making fun there? Or is this another of

Never mind.

TP marathon: Doughnut recipes needed wiljo@freeside.ki.open.de (Wiljo Heinen) 1992-03-21 06:09
Hi everyone !

My friends and I are planning the first N/German TP Marathon
on the Easter weekend, this year.

We will be around 15 or so people, projection on a 3m wide screen,
from the LD edition - so great sound and pic are avail.

OF COURSE we will have loads of that "damn fine coffee" and we'd like
to enjoy a few hundreds of them doughnuts.
ONLY doughnuts are hard to get in the part of the world were we live. You might
be lucky in the Frankfurt or so area, but way up north in Germany -- NO WAY.

As Easter is coming nearer I'm now desperately looking for doughnut recipes.
The only one I got hold of so far is the one in "Welcome to TP". But you
ought to have a variety of them, don't you.

Well - american Peakers to MY RESCUE. PLS: Send methe recipes of the good
ol' doughnuts you use to make, or -- if you yourselfare not responsible
for doughnut production in your home -- go ask your wife, girlfriend, mom.

I will try out all of them (Or at least I'll try to try).

TNX for your help.

wiljo

P.S.: If of any interest, I could post the collection to a.t.t-p afterwards
P.P.S.: No, I don't think {alt|rec}.food would be more appropriate. ;-)

That's where I got my TP PE t-shirt, via mail. Since they're spitting
distance from Snoqualmie, chances are good that they still carry

dropping a group until it's ready to do so, so I don't know for
     sure.

But, in the last week or so, there have been about 4 posts
appended to my newsfile when normally there would be about
400 -- and two of those posts are mine! I'm assuming the
worse here and this is the help I need --

Are there any Twin Peaks mailing-list entities out there,
like the U2 and Def Leppard mailing lists? If so, could
someone please send me some info and the subscribe address?

     Thanks!

HELP from anyone w/ 2nd season on tape? derrigfj@craft.camp.clarkson.edu (Frank J. Derrigo) 1992-03-24 10:29
I began watching TP mid-way through the second season. I've since
bought the first season box set on video. However, I STILL haven't
seen almost half of the second season. I'm in college and won't be
able to afford to buy it once it's released (sometime this year?), at
least not for a while. (Years from now, though, I'm sure I'll have
the whole spended deal on laser disc :-)

To the point... Is there a kind soul out there who might be able to
send me a copy of those episodes I'd missed? I live in upstate New
York (the closer, the better). Please e-mail me (or post) if anyone
is willing.

Thank you in advance.

Frank Derrigo (derrigfj@logic.camp.clarkson.edu)

P.S. I know this isn't perfectly legal, but I WILL be buying the
tapes eventually!
P.P.S. YES, I will of course pay shipping and cost of the blank tapes!

Sherilyn Fenn's name appears right next to Danny Aiello's (playing the
title role of "Ruby"), both names appearing ABOVE the movie title.
This indicates Co-Star status; has to be a significant part.

Except that LOVE AND HATE: A MARRIAGE MADE IN HELL (the full title - known
in Canada as LOVE AND HATE: THE STORY OF COLIN AND JOANNE THATCHER) was
made in 1989, long before he appeared in TWIN PEAKS.

He's played a nasty before, too. He played a wife-beater in the episode
"Acts of Terror" on the first-run syndicated version of THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

On the other hand, he's played good guys, too. Back in 1970, he played
D'Artagnan in a production of "The Three Musketeers" that was shown on
THE N.E.T. PLAYHOUSE (N.E.T. -- "National Educational Television" --
was the old name for PBS).

Yes, a must see classic musical, available on video tape. Copied or parodied
by many later musicals, movies, and MTV videos. A remake of Romio and Juliet
set in NY. It was radical for its time in that it portrayed a NY ethnic group,
the PR's, (Puertoriquenos). It even hired actual PR's to play the PR's in the
movie and some of the songs have hispanic influences and spanish is used
occasionnaly in the movie. Of course it completely ignores the fact that there
are other ethnic groups in NY. (But, put it in perspective, this is early 60's)
And Maria, the leading woman who is supposed to be PR, is played by Natalie Wood,
who does a horrible accent that sounds kind of german. At least they didn't use
the typical Hollywood blond for that role. Rita Moreno steals the show though
with the best performance as her friend. And Richard Beymer plays Tony who is
supposed to be white but looks like he could be hispanic. Perhaps they did this
to calm people who would have been uptight about cross-cultural (Jungle Fever)
relationships. And of course the most memorable quote is when Maria says to
Tony: "When you come, use the back door". Ah, te adoro!

Could someone please tell me what, if anything, David Lynch
had to do with "American Chronicles"? The show is often
mentioned in magazine articles etc about him (usually as
"the sanest thing he's ever done"). However, in the first
program (about the Mardi Gras), which aired here in Sweden
last Tuesday (TV4, 11:30 PM), I could not find his name
anywhere in the credits.

So, is "American Chronicles" a Mark Frost solo project, or
did David Lynch contribute to other shows in the series?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Lynch directed the Mardi Gras episode. I never watched it

but it was a Lynch/Frost project - they both created it.

All night in London estprja@warwick.ac.uk (Hongenoust) 1992-03-27 12:34
Diane,
its 1.30 am on Sunday 1st March and something very strange is happening.
I'm in a large darkened room somewhere in the West End district of London, UK
. There are about 400 people with me. As far as I can make out most of them
have been here for 25 hours now, and some of them are carrying logs. But
the most disturbing thing is the way they're behaving. At irregular intervals
, they will suddenly yell out seemingly meaningless phrases : "The Bird" ;
"Chimney" or most common of all "Dick !".

A cinematic orgy of weird costumes and noisy in jokes.

This is a brief precis/direct copy of an article about the All night/day
showing of Twin Peaks in London. The article appeared in the "Independent" on
Monday 2nd March page 13.

As each new episode rolls around, the cheers get louder and the laughter more
raucous. A mini Orchestra of kazoos rasps along with Angelo Badalamentis
lyrical theme tune as the opening credits roll, and when Badalamentis cool
jazz motif edges up , four hundred sets of fingers snap along to the beat.

Watching the crowd here is an object lesson in the birth of oral
traditions. Those mysterious cries from the auditorium noted by Agent Cooper,
for example, "The Bird" is what the Peakies have learned to yell when the
opening shot of a robin pops on screen; "Chimney" matches the second shot ;
and "Dick !" greets every fresh appearance of Richard Tremayne, the effete
pretentious Brit who may , or may not be, the father of poor Lucy's unborn
child.

Levels of Applause also grow at once wilder and more discriminating as the
hours go by; the credit "David Lynch" is met with polite approbation when
it signals his presence as producer, whoops of delight when it indicates
his appearance as FBI boss Gordon Cole and mass hysteria when it reveals that
Lynch is the director of the show's final episode. And the uproar which is
provoked by the credit "Sherilynn Fenn" - who plays the series chief heart
throb Audrey Horne - verges on riot status.

In fact the only sign of flagging energies during the marathon's last few
hours is that some of the more outre costumes have been discarded for plain
clothes , especially by the women. ( Unlike , say , science fiction
conventions which tend to male gatherings, the Twin Peaks event has drawn
roughly equal numbers of women and men ; most of the fans appear to be in
their mid to late twenties or thereabouts.) There are still a few log
ladies around , but the One-eyed Jack wannabees have sensibly covered their
bustiers and garter belts - not the safest of evening outfits in the vicinity
of Leicester Square - and the young lady who came as Laura Palmer seems to
have shed her cellophane wrapping and wiped off the blue make up.

Diane,
I'm going to sign off. This whole thing needs careful thought. Right
now though my mind is filled with something Gordon Cole once said to me:

" Coop , today you remind me of a small Mexican Chihuahua "

Still haven't figured out what he meant by that

I saw it, Jay Leno was the guest host. This was her

nervous. She was wearing a suit, a man type suit that
covered up her figure, and her hair was done up in an
unusual manner.

She was there to plug her new film "Ruby" with Danny

from the many dancers that worked at Jack Ruby's club.

Nothing was said about TP except that she appeared last on
the show. I was hoping to hear and see more, but it was

Because I like my fingers and may need them in later life.

Hi all...

I am going to Seattle next month, and am planning on spending some time in Snoqualmie and North Bend.
Could all you people out there possibly tell me what are the best places to see, on limited time, and where do they sell the best merchandise etc., and anything else I should know about the area, if you have done this before, could you maybe mail me your itinerary.

Thanks very much...

P.S. If you reply via E-Mail, could you use that address there, not the one in the header......... Thanks Very Much.

boy, i thought leno was really lame. i haven't seen him in a while,
except maybe his monologue. he had no interviewing sense, and did
a terrible job setting up the obviously pre-rehearsed questions.
of course, this doesn't belong in a.t.tp, but i had to finish the
thread.

another note, fenn fanatics out there: sherilyn is currently
"off men" for another six months, after having her heart broken
six months ago. maybe she tried to look unattractive with her
outfit and hair, but she still looked great to me. and now she's
a "free" woman. anyone know her phone number? :-)

(001-007) that have been released and have beome fans of the series.
We can't wait for more eposides to be released on tape. What a great

Laura Palmer! To the Twin Peaks fans out there, plese tell us
the answer! Can't stand the suspense any longer!

I had a different impression. I really thought Jay was trying to help
her. Jay did start off by asking questions, but SF didn't communicate
well. Jay would ask a question...kind of give her the opportunity to
tell a story. Several times Fenn would give *one word* answers.
(To be fair, she did say she was nervous) Well, once Jay saw that she
wasn't going to take his lead, he was forced to start answering *for* her,
hoping that she would loosen up and take the opportunity to speak and tell
her story.

We could have some real fun with this guy, don'tcha think?
Take him through the mystery step-by-step, pointing out the
     things we missed.

For example, Dave: remember, the Little Man From Another Place,
in 002, said "There's always music in the air." Work on that.

Laura died of food poisoning contracted at the diner, and the whole
