I don't watch TV other than "Twin Peaks" and "thirtysomething" (which means, by the way, that I probably won't watch any TV at all after June) so I really don't know about "L.A. Law." However, I doubt the serial nature of the show is as strong there as it is in "Twin Peaks". Remember, for most of its shows "Twin Peaks" has been a murder mystery, with clues and red herrings being dropped throughout every show. Quite a bit of the fun of the show was following these clues. Plus, new characters and important plot developments were introduced in every show. And each show followed the last by one day. So I think that missing a show, or seeing it out of sequence, affects "Twin Peaks" more than any other show. -- J[src]

Okay now, where have I gone wrong? I thought that the actress that played Laura and Maddy also played in the short-lived series 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High'. I can't seem to find that title (or anything close to it) in the posted actor's list. So could someone please answer the following questions? Who played Laura Palmer? There is a pretty complete FTP archive site for Twin Peaks stuff down near
you --
The FTP archive: audrey.sait.edu.au [130.220.16.88]
directory: /pub/twin-peaks
Edwin Nomura posts ascii versions of plot synopses; he has now posted up to
date with the last episode shown in USA, #2020. I maintain a version of the
complete synopsis in Microsoft Word format for the Macintosh. The latest ver-
sion of this synopsis is in the archive as file TP-timeline.sit.Hqx (95 KB,
35 pp.). It's complete through episode #2018 -- that is, I'm two episodes
back.
One of these days real soon now I'll catch the summary up to date and post
it to audrey.sait.edu.au in two versions: BinHex'd Stuffit archive for the
Mac, as presently, and RTF for interchange with the DOS/Windows version of

I hadn't noticed those errors. I did notice, on page 10, that the text
refers to County Road J, but I can only find Highway J in the maps.
Should I assume they're the same road? For the most part however, IMHO,
the authors have tied together a significant amount of information into
a surprisingly detailed, and funny, 'guide'.

Off hand I didn't think the runes on the map matched the ones on
Catherine's box. Please check the your tape though, I'm not positive.
There are ten runes in the map, including the one inside the flames
(which matches the symbol found at Owl Cave). Could nine of these
runes indicate the planets, and the one in flames the sun? (I know
that one rune looks like the symbol for Jupiter, but the others don't
look familiar.) Or, the big circle on the right indicates the sun
and the rune in the flames indicates the Black Lodge. This would
point to the Great Northern or White Tail Falls.
BTW, where is the Miss Twin Peaks contest being held? At the Roadhouse
or the GN? I'm expecting some sort of confrontation between Cooper and
Earle at the contest. Maybe the entrance to the Black Lodge will be
the same place as the contest. ("There's something wrong here.")
Another ideas: The '|------.' symbols on the map point to something.
Lines extended from these 'pointers' bisect four of the ten rones and
form a triangle. Or, the positions of the 'planets' on the map define
a date or time that the Gate opens. Can anyone identify the other rones?

The last episode I saw was when the Major reappeared in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm. Is there anywhere I can get ahold of a synopsis of the show since then? Actually, come to think of it, I have seen a couple of episodes on and off since then, but not as part of a sequence. Also, when is the last episode being broadcast? Hello Tweakers!
---------------
A while ago I posted the original schedule of episodes to be shown
here in Sweden. If unchanged, the last episode would have been shown
on June 3rd, but now the inevitable has happend: yesterday 2020 was
run, and afterwards the message was that 2021 is going to be on
June 17th. I had anticipated this, it wouldn't have been very likely
that it would be released here before you americans had seen it.
What about you danes and norweigans? I suppose you will have the same
hiatus!?
I come from the southernmost province(Skaane) of Sweden, and we are
able to recieve danish television. The show is broadcasted there on
Thursdays, so 2021 would be shown the day after tomorrow, May 23rd,
if no break in the schedule has occured.
Too much to wish for...

What is perhaps most interesting, is that the two-hour finale in the US will be split into "ordinary" episodes over here... The good thing about this hiatus of course, is that it at least indicates that the final episodes will be "tailor-made" to wrap up some of the loose ends. Roar Larsen, Trondheim, Norway[src]

Use of the supernatural in TP muzzle@cs.uq.oz.au (Murray Chapman) 1991-05-21 09:32
Hi there
You may (have) read my other post to this net, but I will tell you that
the episode shown tonight here in Australia revealed the killer of
Laura Palmer...
Just one thing that bugs me about TP, and over the last two weeks has
started to turn me off TP: the plot seems to rely more and more on
supernatural events (the giant, the midget, the horse, the dreams, the
messages from space) to provide clues to the murderer...
Admittedly the Tajimoto (sp) revelation was a relief...
Supernatural events are not used just to give clues for the murder, but to
keep the plot going along.
For example: (* SPOILER ALERT*)
I think that TWO schitzophrenics (The One-armed-man and Leyland Palmer)
is a bit hard to swallow, and I find it hard to beleive that an FBI agent
would base his investigations on dreams after being shot or the testimony
of a recluse who talks to logs.
Don't get me wrong, I think that TP is brilliantly executed, but it seems
to be falling into the trap of introducing too many supernatural or strange
events just to keep the plot alive, or to get the writers out of a tricky
situation.
Just seems a major shift from previous episodes: we have FBI forensic
experts doing cocaine analysis, and then we go talk to a log. :-)
Issues that I hope to see explored in future TP epsodes:
1) Why does the killer put letters under the fingernails??? Sureley
they would have explored that concept more than they did...
How/why did the killer put them under the fingernails of the
victim(s) that brought Cooper to Twin Peaks?
2) What is the chess game about?
3) What is on the tape in Leo's boot?
4) What is the signifigance of the horse that Laura's mother saw?
5) Why doesn't Cooper feel guilty about the man killed during his
(illegal) raid on One-Eyed-Jack's?
6) Why aren't the press swamping the town which is the latest site
of a serial killer's work?
7) Who shot Cooper? I expected this to be solved before the killer's
identity was revealed.
8) Who shot the bird??? Why??
9) What was in Laura's secret diary?
10) WHY DID LEYLAND KILL LAURA??????
11) Why is Audrey Horne so disgusted with her father sleeping
with LP, when she lept into Cooper's bed at the first opportunity?
I was disappointed with the episode where we learnt the identity of LP's
killer, but a relief was the Tajimoto revelation. In the matter of the
killer, I feel that the writers said "Ok, who would be most unlikely to
be suspected of the murder? (by characters in the story)", not "who would
make the most interesting (but still beleiveable) killer"... and then
saying "well, we'll just make him a schitzo, and that will explain things."
One final point: from the look of the promos of next week's episode, Cooper
and Co. don't realise who the killer is. I hope that they continue this for
a few more episodes, to build the suspense: knowing that he could go nuts
at any time and try to kill/cuddle someone at any time.
Anyway! That's my $0.02 worth...
Love it or hate it, YOU have read it!

As has already been posted, Laura was played by Sheryl Lee. It is
my understanding that she was discovered at a audition in Seattle
by Lynch and Frost, and that the only thing she did up there before
TP was local theatre and a little modeling. Given this, and the fact
that she's only 21 (maybe 22 by now), it's unlikely that she was

This is the second time today that one of my pet peeves has been violated,
and what really ticks me off is that the same pet peeve was violated in
each case!!
Schizophrenia (note the spelling) and Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD)
are **NOT**, I repeat, **NOT**, the same thing!!!!!!!!! In fact, they are
virtually unrelated psychopathologies!
Basic symptoms of schizophrenia include (but are not limited to) delusions,
hallucinations, movement disorders (e.g. lots of motion, no motion),
motivational deficits, autism, lack of social skills, etc.
MPD is when a person has two or more different personalities that talk,
write, think, etc, differently. They may, or may not, be aware of the
other personalities (usually not).
Sorry to flame on, but this is one of the few things I expect my Intro. to
Psychology students to remember at the end of the semester. I absolutely
hate it when people mis-refer to these disorders!! If you want to read
a good book on MPD, read "Sybil" (the author's name escapes me)--or see
the movie of the same name starring Sally Field. This person/character
has MPD, and is **NOT** schizophrenic!

Bob as galactic demon: Did L/F cheese out? user@darkside.com (A Modem User) 1991-05-21 12:37
You know, I was just browsing a newspaper the other day, and a tiny little
blurb about Twin Peaks mentioned the possiblity that Leland Palmer, the
infamous Laura Palmer daddy/murderer, might not have been actually possessed
by a demon named Bob, but was just manifesting this apparition to explain
his cruel treatment of his daughter. The paper suggested that Bob was a man
who may have molested Leland as a child.
Now, dammit, why couldn't Lynch/Frost expand on this? I mean, the whole
thing with phantoms and aliens and the like is an interesting story -- much
more so than those sad little trifles involving One Eyed Jacks or that
"possibly possessed" little boy, Nicky (whatever happened to THAT sub-plot?)
-- but if they had implemented a little Freudian psychology, you would have
had something REALLY interesting. But since they have spent so much time
on developing the whole alien thing, I guess it's too much to hope for that
Leland was living in a terrifying state of paranoia, guilt, and denial.
Oh well. Maybe if Ingmar Bergman had had a hand in it...

Without ruining completely the remainder of the series for those who have only just learned WKLP, I'll simply say whether or not we have learned the answers to your questions so far through episode #2020. If you really want the detailed spoilers, send me mail. * SPOILERS AHEAD * > 1) Why does the killer put letters under the fingernails??? You will be hearing more about the illegality of the raid though... > 6) Why aren't the press swamping the town which is the latest site > of a serial killer's work? Good question. It's part of a larger question that has been debated at length here, viz: where's the outrage, the horror, the concerted law- enforcement counterattack against the forces of evil that progressively engulf this cozy town? Why haven't they called out the Army? (Oddly enoough, there is material yet to come that bears on this question...) > 7) Who shot Cooper? In fact, it was pretty clear from that episode. Got a VCR? > 9) What was in Laura's secret diary? This is not revealed in full in the remaining episodes -- though some more facts come out -- but a book has been published called, of all things, "The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer." Author is Jennifer Lynch, daughter of David. Concensus in this group is that this book can be taken all in all as an "official" background document -- that is, it's part and parcel of the same creative mythos. > 10) WHY DID LEYLAND KILL LAURA?????? We have only speculation. > 11) Why is Audrey Horne so disgusted with her father sleeping > with LP, when she lept into Cooper's bed at the first opportunity? Doesn't really come up. It is fairly obvious that this is not the case. We, the
audience, know that Ronnette saw BOB's body, i.e. via the Giant (one can
see him). Mrs. Palmer and Cooper had visions of the same face of BOB at
different times. We also know Maddy saw BOB's spirit and we know of
BOB through the independent source of Mike.
More evidence exists, too lengthy
to spend time identifying here. Unless there is some reason
that Twin Peaks residents, FBI agents, and visiting cousins of Twin
Peaks residents all use this BOB-image to visualize evil, one would have
to assume that BOB is real.
> >"possibly possessed" little boy, Nicky (whatever happened to THAT sub-plot?)
This ended when we learned of Nicky's past through Dr.
Hayward. These little subplots that you mention were attempts at
bringing in stories that could be "quickly" wrapped up in the new
season. Apparently, L/F thought that short attention span viewers would
appreciate this sort of thing.

US Mag Best/Worst Poll sally@eris.berkeley.edu (S. A. Wilson) 1991-05-21 19:45
Well, while at the University book store, browsing through magazines I came across US Magazine with its Best/Worst Poll, so out of curiosity I wanted to see how our favorite show fared, well it was one of the top 3 worst: 1. Rosanne 2. Simpsons 3. TP Now, I am pretty sure that the only reasons for this was: 1) People heard how poorly it was doing in the ratings, but never saw the show, and thought it must be bad; if it ain't in the top of the Neilson's it mustn't be any good. 2) Those who watched it once and thought it was too weird, or were turned off by the violence, ie. the episode when Maddie bought the farm. After all its okay for characters to get killed, even women, but as long as the viewers are kept distant from it, and don't have to think about, and feel good then it's okay. 3) Then of course you have to think a little while watching it, and that is too much to ask from some people; and hell there weren't any car chances.... I can't remember all top 3: Cheers & Knots Landing were 2 of them, can't remember the 3rd, or the order. Sally--Little over 2 weeks, and I won't even be around to appreciate, unless: is there going to be any TP parties around Orlando??? -- Politically Correct Terminology: || Sally A. Yes, the human > >responsible for performing the deed is revealed. Yeah? Well I still reckon Ben Horne did it. You've only got Bob's word for it that Leland was used. I hate to say this, but after so much fuss on the Death of Maddie episode, the actual... er, kill was sorta tame. Leland hugging the bleeding Maddie was much sicker than smashing her face against a picture (NOT Laura's picture!) The traincar episode, too, was much scarier. I suspect the only reason anyone took that much exception to Maddie's death was that it was on during the much- advertised WKLP episode, when many more people were watching than in 2001. Is the drastic fall in TP quality you all keep whingeing about after the WKLP episode? With a couple of grey patches (most boringly 1005), TP has been con- sistently excellent, methinks. Donna was crying for Harold at the Roadhouse while Maddie was being dispatched, eh? (Note: Interesting how Lynch allows our attention to wander while the deed is done, picking up at other subplots. I guess his overriding interest was never WKLP, which is of course fair.) Good. Serves her right, the shmuck. I just hope that the June 10 episode doesn't turn into a scrambling effort to tie up loose ends and force a solution. IMO, this is what happened in the episode in which Leland dies. Gee Daniel I could not _possibly_ disagree with you more! :) I thought
this particular episode was perhaps the best TV I have ever viewed.
The part when Cooper was holding a dieing Leland talking him into the next

sins?) still stuns me every time I see it! :-D

TP - Visualize Tibet - Visualize New Episodes of TP duane@thismoment.EBay.Sun.COM (Duane Day) 1991-05-23 00:28
Visualize Tibet...returned to the control of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetans! Hold that thought for a moment...and then bring that same purpose of vision to bringing about a way to keep Twin Peaks alive as long as Lynch, Frost, Peyton, Engels, Frost and almost certainly MacLachlan are interested in continuing to produce it, without needing to pander to the lowest common denominator mentality of any of the American television networks - or even the average skittish advertiser or moralistic boycott organizer. Subscription video television. The problem with Twin Peaks on network TV is that the majority of people flat out *don't begin to get it*. You can resent them for their lack of perception - but, who knows - perhaps they would accuse you of a lack of perception for not appreciating the subtleties of, say, Vanilla Ice. But I digress... There probably aren't going to be 20 or 30 million people ready to get involved with Peaks. But there might well be 100,000 or so people who enjoy and admire the show enough that they'd pay, say, $10 or $12 apiece, via subscription, for high-quality video cassettes, each containing a new Twin Peaks episode, sent to their home 15 to 20 times a year. Add to that the inevitable 50,000 or so video stores who'd buy at least one copy per episode to rent out, and you've immediately raised the $1,500,000 each episode supposedly costs. Instant break-even, and then profit comes in from sales of broadcast rights in Europe and elsewhere - countries in which sufficient numbers *do* watch the show to satisfy advertisers and network execs. They could even sell a couple brief commercial spots if they wanted to, since Lynch has expressed an admiration for the constraints placed by commercial interruptions on the storytelling. These could be specially produced commercials, perhaps for companies and products which do not advertise on broadcast or cable TV. This would further lower the breakeven point or raise the profits. The advertisers would be accepting a challenge; to present their message in an intriguing enough way to hold the interest of Peaks fans. Perhaps Lynch and some of Twin Peaks' other better directors would even agree to produce and direct some of these, in an effort to give the advertiser the best chance of holding the viewer's attention *even though the ad is on videotape*, and in an effort to attenuate viewer frustration with having ads on their videotapes. (A minute or a minute and a half, total, would be enough to provide the brief pacing breaks required to maintain the structure and I feel wouldn't be that big a drag to have on these fabulous collectors items.) Everybody wins. BOB Iger frees up another hour each week for such satisfying shows as "America's Funniest People". The vast majority of the people who depend on network TV for entertainment get the kind of shows that vast majorities in America tend to like. And the tens or hundreds of thousands of us who had a brand new part of our minds lit up by "Twin Peaks" continue to get new episodes of the show, secure in the knowledge that BOB Iger, Donald Wildmon, or the intellectually lazy at large no longer have any part in the decision to continue or terminate production of this wonderful show. I don't see a single good reason that this couldn't happen, and I hope there is sufficient interest here to get the word somehow to those who could actually begin to *make it happen*. Oh, yeah - and let's not forget that Tibet for the Tibetans visualization thing, either. Thoughts?[src]

Twin Peaks censored in the UK? jeff@aiai.ed.ac.uk (Jeff Dalton) 1991-05-23 12:02
(For those in countries other than the US or the UK, there may be some spoilers here.) The most recent episode broadcast in the UK was missing about 20 seconds that was in the US version. (I know this because I have both on tape and was able to compare.) For those in other countries, it is the episode in which the Sheriff is attacked by Miss Jones (or whatever her name is), and the 20 seconds are taken out of their struggle. The BBC was recently taken to task by the Broadcasting Standards folks for the scene in which Maddy was killed. It may be that they are trying to avoid further trouble. On a somewhat related point, I saw the episode in which Leland dies in both the US and the UK and I remember something right at the end in the US version that made it seem Leland might still be alive. Is this just faulty memory on my part? If not, can anyone supply details? -- jd[src]
Peter Wolfe and David Lynch nilson@maximillion.cp.mcc.com (Jill Nilson) 1991-05-23 12:56
Did anybody catch Dave Letterman earlier this week? I think it was Monday night. Peter Wolfe was the musical guest. He talked about his college days and how he met David Lynch and they became roommates. Lynch, according to him, was very 50's and straightlaced, and Wolfe was a very bohemian musician. Eventually, Lynch asked him to move out because Wolfe was 'too wierd'. That got a laugh..... ===========================================================================jill[src]

I thought Donna cried at that particular time because the words
of the song Julie Cruise was singing triggered a reaction in here. Of
course the genuis of Twin Peaks is the multiple possibilties for everything.
I bet both her crying and brilliant lip synching earlier in that episode
were improvised by the director, Lynch, during the rehearsals.
Does anybody remember in the two hour episode that opened the second
season, which Lynch also directed, the expressions on Donna's and Maddie's
faces when Leland was doing his shtick at "The Hayward Supper Club"?
They were laughing not an actresses' laugh, but a real uncontrolable laugh.
I think Lynch and Ray Wise didn't tell anybody specificly what was he
was going to do in his "routine".
I also noticed that when Lynch appears as Gordon Cole, the other
actors seem to perk-up a bit. Often you can tell they are having trouble
holding back the laughter.
David Lynch seems to have a magnetizim which brings out the creativity
and natural talent with those he works with.

I felt exactly the same way until Kenneth Welsh (Windom Earle)
did his imitation of the doomsday clock in the last episode: "TICK TOCK,
TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK". He and Ray Wise will just have to share the
best supporting dramatic actor award. :-)
There's a magazine called either _Variety_ or _Daily_Variety_ which
runs adds prior to the emmy nominations from actors agents expressing
reasons why academy members should recognize said actor.
Why don't you use your COOP LOOT and take out an add?

It was a very powerful scene, which will remain in my mind for ever. . . But most of the episode wass out of character from what I have come to expect from TP. Usually, the pace is slow and calculated, keeping you at the edge of your seat, not by virtue of a lightning pace, but through thoughtful manipulations and a slow-torture approach to suspense. The writers/directors would take a few episodes to develop themes fully. Some of the characters were also out of character (as it were). Prime example: Albert lost his wonderful obnoxiousness (is that a word?) and cynicism, spouting corny lines like "the only one with the correct coordinates in his hardware is you, Coop." Give me a break. What I disliked most about this particular episode was the fact that it seemed like the writers were giving in to pressure from the station to humor the viewers with the 7 second attention span. "Well we have to find out WKLP, arrest him, deal with BOB, and spout a few innanities all in time for the first commercial break." As I said, out of character from the usual TP fare. All in all, however, it _was_ far superior to most anything else on the airwaves. Leland's scene you mentioned, the coda with the owl flying out of the light (what wonderful theories abounded on the net about this one), Major Briggs appearing just in the nick of time with Senor Droolcup; all these made it worthwhile. Again, I just hope that the June 10 episode will be one that we can all be proud of, and will live up to the high standards that we have come to expect. > > Ken SaintJohn O:) > > Ken.Saintjohn@bbs.oit.unc.edu --Daniel Pedersen - Keren's Daddy DUP94@campus.swarthmore.edu DUP94@swarthmr.bitnet[src]

Help me.... Last Tuesday down here in Australia, we got the episode where Leland Palmer is turning into (flashing back and forth to) Bob, the killer. I don't believe that Leland killed Laura, althought he did kill Maddy, so all you American friends, please oh please can someone tell me what really happened, so I can be a know it all and impress all my friends (no not really, I am just very confused). Please could someone help me out with this one, and tell me any other juicey bits of story that wouldn't spoil it too much. Thanks in advance from your Australian counterparts... Twin Peaks on CBS? webb@CS.CMU.EDU (Jon Webb) 1991-05-24 05:28
I heard last night from a friend who works at the local paper that David Lynch will make an announcement today regarding some discussions he's been having with CBS about Twin Peaks. Supposedly they are interested in the series, providing Lynch tightens up the story lines, and sticks with a more limited group of directors, both of which changes I think could improve the show -- providing the directors are Lesli Linka Glatter, Caleb Deschanel, etc. Look for it. -- J[src]

I just called (Friday, May 24, 14:45) CBS's programming department and asked about a Lynch announcement. I was told, "David Lynch is with ABC". I pressed the point and asked about Twin Peaks being put on CBS and was told, "NO". Sorry. ric[src]

This will probably help you with your commentaries, fellow net-users: Here's a list of the Hitchcock films that we've seen so far: "Spellbound" (1945) "The Thirty-Nine Steps" (1935) "Sabotage" (1936) "Rope" (1948) "Shadow of a Doubt" (1943) "Strangers on a Train" (1951) "Rear Window" (1954) "Vertigo" (1958) "North by Northwest" (1959) "The Wrong Man" (1956) And a list of the ones we'll see for the rest of the quarter: "Psycho" (1960) "Frenzy" (1972) I don't want to be picky, but could you keep a discussion of Hitchcock's films to the ones we've seen already? I don't know how the professor would react to my mentioning of "Frenzy", for instance. Thanks!! --Jeff "Koganuts" Koga[src]

Hello, The last time I had a chance to look at this group, Fiona (and I'm terribly sorry I've forgotten your last name) had proposed a project for everyone to write the final episode. Did this end? Very interesting observations Daniel, even though I rather enjoyed
the 'change of pace' myself I can certainly appreciate how you feel
about it. Somehow the suspense of knowing that LP Killer would soon be
apprehended was in fact intensified for me via the 'lightning pace'.
I found The change of pace gave the program a different spin which
only seemed appropriate for this climatic (sp) episode. I think the
one line I will forever remember was "Gee I guess I 'kinda sorta did,
I have this thing for knives you know!!!" Hahahha! I loved it! I'm
sure going to miss Twin Peaks! :(

Has anyone seen the "Feed Your Mind" with books spots on MTV? The first one, I believe, was with Timothy Hutton. Well, I saw another one today that I think was shown for the first time and it features Sherilyn Fenn reading, appropriately enough a selection by Anais Nun. Nun is the woman who was recently the subject of the movie HENRY AND JUNE. It definitely takes advantage of Fenn's sex symbol status and is quite an interesting piece of writing. Passion Play (ritual in the circle of trees) giovin@medr0.ecs.umass.edu (Rocky J Giovinazzo) 1991-05-25 23:27
The access guide has some interesting info on the circle of trees BOB was standing in: "Twelve Douglas Firs describe a circle. They appear strong enough to support the sky and their collective age stretches back almost to the Pleistocene. You want the giants to speak, tell you of the amazing history running along their grain in which the never ending Quest is given substance. You feel close to the beginning. It is Glastonberry Grove you're standing in, a part of Ghostwood National Forest and backdrop for Twin Peaks' pentannual Passion Play. (Every five years or so). Of uncertain date and origin, the Passion Play continues to evolve and is a profoundly moving ceremony. While a precise day and time are never announced, if you're in town during the month of April and keep your eyes and ears open you can follow the quiet exodus of the curious and converted out to Glastonberry Grove shortly after dark to gather around the twelve Great Firs. From the shadows, half a dozen cassocked figures emerge bearing sword, crysanthemum, crucifix and chalice. There appears the mysterious garden at the gate. To this day no one knows where the guardian comes from or why it appears. Mystery also surrounds the sponsors of the event but rumours suggest the ultra-secret Bookhouse Boys. Lasting the entire night, dawn brings the ceremony's climax when sunlight obliterates darkness as Good vanquishes Evil. Skeptics may wonder what happens if the day dawns cloudy. In fact, in the entire recorded history of the ceremony that has never occurred; dawn of Twin Peaks' Passion Play has always been announced by sunlight. The next Passion Play will occur sometime in April, 1992. No need to call, just be there." Also in the guide is the Steeplejack cheer that we could hear some of when Nadine came out of her coma: I'm a jack and you're a jack Steeple jacks are we And when we get together The cry is "Victory"! Has anyone read this book? I know that the writing style and narrative are a bit awkward, but the storyline is really quite fascinating. Living here in Philadelphia, where according to the book Dale grew up, it's interesting to read about some of the more off-the-wall areas of the city. Also, the bit about his mother's ring tied up its use as a symbol in TP quite nicely. If anyone has saved any posted commentary on the book, I would be REALLY apruciative if you would mail it to me. - (S) the addresses of ABC, the Twin Peaks production company, and others

Changes and new listings are marked by #. Please send me any corrections

There is an anonymous FTP site for much of the material in list (L), and

Items currently in this archive are marked below by "ftp" in the margin.
# In response to lots of questions, I include below a pocket tutorial on
# how to use anonymous FTP:
#
# Start up FTP and at its prompt ("ftp>") say "open 130.220.16.88" . If you
# connect successfully you'll be asked for name and password. For name say
# "anonymous" and for password use your net address, e.g. I would type
# "dawson@Atex.Kodak.COM" .
#
# Now, say "cd /pub/twin-peaks" . FTP has help (for most implementations you
# type "?" or "h"), but the commands you need are these:
#
# ls brief listing
# ls -l long listing
# cd change directory on the remote machine
# lcd change directory on your local machine
# get <name> copy a remote file <name> to the current directory on
# your local disk
# binary need to say this for other than text files (FTP responds,
# mysteriously, "Mode set to I")
# quit close connection and exit
#
# That's it, enjoy. The large world of anonymous FTP is now open to you.

files: timeline-Word.sit.hqx (115 KB) for Macintosh
tlWord.RTF (182 KB) for DOS/Windows
These files represent a complete rendition of the Edwin Nomura synopsis of
all TP episodes from the pilot through 04/18/91, formatted for Microsoft
Word. Both Macintosh and DOS/Windows versions are provided. Included are
Jerry Boyajian's invented titles for each episode (plus a few of my own).
It comes to 38 pages with title page and table of contents.
timeline-Word.sit.hqx -- for Macintosh
Note that this is a binary file, so say "binary" to FTP before retrieving.
Move this file to a Macintosh (replacing newlines with CR's if necessary)
and process it with BinHex 4.0 to produce "TP timeline.sit"; process this
file with Stuffit v1.5.1 to produce "TP timeline".
tlWord.RTF -- for DOS/Windows
Import this file into the DOS/Windows version of MS Word using the RTF
(rich text format) import filter.
For those without FTP access, send me email and we'll arrange for a paper
copy via 8.5"x11" SASE. Enclose a floppy if you want the MS Word files too.
